Pastor Mawunyo “Elie” Nenonene is the Founder and President of Mission of Evangelism for Disciples of Christ, Inc. (MEDiC).

In 1995, Pastor Elie’s mother passed away after a long sickness, and he lost all hope. He attended a church where he heard of the saving love of Jesus Christ, and turned his life to Christ. He began to attend the Bible Institute of Lomé to gain more knowledge of the Bible.

It was during this time that God called him to become a pastor. He pastored a church in Togo and a church in Benin until God led him to become the West Africa Field Coordinator with The Timothy Initiative (TTI), a church planting organization. In 2018, Pastor Elie started MEDiC to begin planting churches in the villages of Togo. He currently oversees eight churches. 

Sonja Nenonene grew up in a Christian home. When she was 5 years old, while attending a Christian school, she accepted Jesus as her Savior.  In October 1988, she was baptized and committed her life to Christ. She had a strong desire to be a missionary and served in many areas of the church including Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, praise team, mission committee chairman, and treasurer.

​Sonja graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She worked hard to obtain her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. She worked for a public accounting firm for 11 years, and then as the VP of Finance and HR for an insurance company, while continuing to serve in church. In 2015, God called her into full-time missions as the finance manager at International Gospel Mission where she served until December 31, 2018. On July 14, 2018 she married Elie Nenonene and they are now planting churches in Africa and promoting MEDiC.
