DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

Mission of Evangelism for Disciples of Christ (MEDiC)
DOCTRINAL STATEMENTS
The Bible
We believe that the holy scriptures are divinely inspired, and are the infallible word of God in the original text. They are absolute truth and inerrant. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21

God
We believe that there is one God existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is infinite in knowledge, in person, and in presence. He is immutable. Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8:6

Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God in his divinity and humanity. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. His life was perfect, and his atoning death and resurrection are the basis of our salvation. We believe he ascended to heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father, where he intercedes for us. We believe that He will come back in a visible and glorious manner, to call the living and the dead in Christ to eternal life. Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-35; Hebrews 4:14-15; John 1:1-14; John 14:1-4

Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, His personality, His conviction, and His reception at the time of confession in the life of all those who accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He reveals and communicates the glories of Christ to man. The Spirit fills, empowers, and distributes to each person spiritual gifts. John 3:5; Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 4:11-12

Man
We believe that God created the universe and all it contains, and created man in his image. We believe that man’s sin separated him from God, and that all mankind is born with a sinful nature. Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 5: 12, 19

Salvation
We believe at man is saved by the grace of God through Jesus Christ, and that this salvation is received only by faith and its atoning work on the cross. To enter the kingdom of God, man must repent and be born again. We believe in the eternal security of the believers. John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5: 14-21; John 5: 24-25

Church
We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the universal church. It is comprised of believers of all nations and all times, saved by the redemptive work of Jesus. Local churches are the visible expression of the universal church. Ephesians 1:22-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 4:4-13
